OmniComm Systems, Inc. Receives Safe Harbor Certification

Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 12, 2011 - OmniComm Systems, Inc., a global provider of eClinical solutions and services, today announced that it received Safe Harbor Certification effective December 30, 2010. OmniComm complies with the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor Framework and the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework and meets the standards defined by the EU Directive on Data Protection.

"This certification gives assurances to our clients that OmniComm adheres to the strict data protection requirements as defined by the EU Directive on Data Privacy," said Dr. Yvonne Rollinger, Managing Director of the OmniComm European Headquarters. "Compliance to the Safe Harbor Principles helps to develop, foster and expand our business with the 27 EU member states and Switzerland, and it is an additional demonstration of the high quality and data privacy standards of OmniComm's superior Quality Management System."

The European Directive on Data Protection requires that transfers of personal data take place only to non-EU countries that provide an "adequate" level of privacy protection. The United States takes a different approach to data privacy than taken by the European Union. To diminish uncertainties and provide a more predictable framework for personal data transfers from the EU to the U.S., the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the European Commission issued the Safe Harbor Framework in 2000. Certified Organizations must comply with the seven Safe Harbor Principles about Notice, Choice, Onward Transfer, Access, Security, Data Integrity and Enforcement.
